What's my name?

Dawn from As Sweet as Cinnamon wants to know the reasons behind her follower's names.  I signed up with Blogger in 2010. At the time I decided not to link it to any of my hobbies because I had intended blogging about my life in general so I abbreviated my first and second names to create a unique Blogger name. As it is I have done very little blogging for various reasons and I have become more of a lurker than a participator :-)

Post weekend

I think my brain is dead after the directing course at the weekend. There was so much to take in and absorb. The simulations were great fun and lightened the mood before the assessment. I am pleased to say  that I passed and am now a fully fledged club director!!!
Today I should be getting everything prepared for the quilting workshop on Thursday but instead I am watching This Morning on catch up while there is a gale blowing outside :-)

The day after the day before

I was still tired after yesterday and all the decorating last week so I decided to have a lazy morning. After lunch I got the kitchen organised for the committee meeting. We usually have it in the "good" room with everything balanced on our knees but I decided it would be much better to have it round the kitchen table.

The meeting went well. We had a lot to get through and we got everything covered. Everybody seemed to appreciate sitting round the table - another first!

A day in the life of an extra

I got up at 5am yesterday so that I could leave at 6 so that I would be in good time for my 7:15 call time. Unfortunately my sat nav let me down and couldn't manage to recognise that I would have to cross the canal to get to the base. Eventually I went in to a police station in the middle of Drumchapel and got directions from them. Fortunately I was only a few minutes late and there was still some breakfast left for me!

We left about 8am for the filming location and I spent the rest of the day with the cast and crew of the Rab C Nesbitt show. They are filming a new series which will be shown later in the year. I did some "passing by" in the morning but apart from that I wasn't used. Along with the other extras we either stood and watched the filming on the monitor or sat in the car for a wee heat. The plus side was that I had a nice lunch and got a cuddle from Elaine C Smith.

One of the things I enjoy about doing this type of work is the interesting people that I meet. Yesterday one of the extras was a medium and she told us some interesting stories and also dispelled some myths about spiritualism. She has also worked in criminal cases and her explanation of how that worked was extremely enlightening. She even managed to convince one of the young extras who was very sceptical to begin with.

After that I met 2 of my sons and we went for dinner in Sputini's. They have a wonderful "Day time tasting menu" which is like an Italian Tapas menu. The food is delicious and it is great value - 3 of us ate for less than £30 including drinks.

I eventually got home again about 9pm. It was a long day but I thoroughly enjoyed it. 

Sunday evening

I have been really tired all week because I have been painting the bedroom. I had a great sleep last night and  I have had a lazy day. I felt very tired this afternoon but we went out for our dinner and it has obviously boosted my energy levels because I am not tired now. The only problem is that I have to get up at 5am tomorrow and have no choice in the matter since I have a shoot at 7:15 am and it will take me about an hour and a half to get to the location. I am playing online Scrabble now but I don't think that will help me relax!
